Alloway (Cambusdoon) & Troon (Carswell)

Back in the 1950's, a friend, Colin Carswell was at Cambusdoon School in Alloway, Ayrshire. His home was Troon and his family was part of Carswell Tailors. Colin's mother I think was Connie, and his father possibly John but that's a wild guess.

The school was located right beside the then Ayr County Cricket Ground. It stood above the river. Since then it has been demolished and the area is now a housing development.

I've tried numerous ways to try and contact Colin including 'Friends .......'.

Hoping someone here might 'have a clue'.

Thanks,

James.

Apart from the Friends.reunited site - there is another one.... Knowhere.com
It has many cities on the site and maybe you can be successful via it?

Thanks for the suggestion but I'd sooner have toothache than return to that again.
I'm grateful this forum isn't run the same way.

James.

OK... I sense your pain.
What about trying the local Education Office? They may have details of 'former pupils' associations for schools which are still running and also details of those that have closed. Or try the local libraries? Or mebees local historical societies? They should all be on the net somewhere!
Good luck with your search.

Might this person be a relative ? Leaving school in '71 would mean he would have started primary in '56 at the very latest.

Peter Carswell | Ayr | Classmates.com

Try contacting through him ?

No, Colin was not a relative but a very good friend who would have started at Cambusdoon (a Preparatory School) the same time as me I think, or soon after (1952).
