I was born in Edinburgh in 1947 and lived on Sunbury just off Belford Road until my family moved to California in 1960. I attended Dean Primary School and Broughton Senior Secondary. If there are any of my old schoolmates out there I would love to here from you.I realise it has been 40+ years but one can always hope. I have not been to Edinburgh since Christmas/New Year's 1973/1974(I still can feel the effects of "first footing". I hope to hear from someone.

Another ex-Dean Primary/Broughton Secondary school member

Hi, I don't know who you are as your name is not disclosed. While researching Dean Primary School I came across your entry. I was born in 1945 and from the age of 5 I attended Dean Primary School until I left it aged 12 and also went to Broughton Secondary School. I lived in Dean Orphanage and my name was Tom Wright. When I left Dean Primary the dux was Caroline Black and I was runner-up (quite an achievement for someone from Dean Orphanage). I love that part of town and when I was a young man, I played football for Orphan Hospital, whose pitch was in front of the old Dean Orphanage in Belford Road. I went every Sunday to Belford Church and was a member of the Scouts there. I hope that you are still checking your entry on this website and if you are interested we can swap reminiscences of how it was to be a child at Dean School. You can contact me directly on tomwright6@mac.com. I joined this website specially to reply to your message. But I don't have any pictures.

Tom
I fear the original poster may be long gone as the message was posted in 2001.

I may be telling you something you already know, but have you heard of www.friendsreunited.co.uk ? There are lots of schools listed on there, and you might be more successful in tracing people via that site than here.
