Hello to all,
I used to live in these two places back in the early 70's, and was just wondering if anyone from the Newtonhill area knew Davy Jones,Wull MacDonald, and Jake his buddy, Louise Curle, who lived just up the road from us,or some other friends from back then. We used to go to Jimmy Gills pub on a regular basis,(the guys that is), and party in StoneHaven as well. I was just looking for some old friends that might remember me from back then. My parents were the only American family that lived in Newtonhill, however myself and my other American friends that lived in Aberdeen used to come to Jimmy Gills quite a bit.
I had quite a few friends from Aberdeen as well, but the one that I remember the most, was Carey Simons, then there were others such as Martin Spurgen, and his sister. the times we all had back then.
If anyone has information, or knows how I might be able to contact them, please let me know.
My thanks and best wishes to you all.

Thanks

Hi Babz,
Thanks for any help that you might be able to render. It's been a long time since I was in Aberdeen, but I really loved it there. Are The Royal Darroch, and Kippe Lodge still in business? Those are two places that I remember, as the darroch introduced me to "scampi", and I've loved it ever since, and if I remember right Kippe Lodge was out the out skirts of Aberdeen where a lot of us Americans used to go.
By the way Happy belated Hogmanay, I remember my first one in '72 I believe, what a time I had. People here have "NO" comprehension of what Hogmanay is like, but that's all good too. There are way too many strange ones here to have that kind of celebration.
Anyway, thanks, and all my best to you and yours

Umm...matey How long have you been away from Aberdeen for???

The Royal Darroch Hotel exploded away back in the early 80's. The cause was a gas leak I think!

Kippie Lodge is still going as far as I know.
