Smile Hello

Dear Davie61

I am new to this, and I would love to have a Scottish pen-pal. I'm an American from Texas, and I feerl kind of bashful about doing this, because from what I understand, lots of Scots don't like Americans.

However, I do have documented evidence that some of my ancestors came from Scotland in the late 1700's. Seeing how they came from the Kintyre area of Scotland, would that make them Lowlanders instead of Highlanders?

Also, if youy choose to answer me, I'm not sure where to look to get your messages. Please know that I'm interested in getting to know Scottish people. After all, I do have some Scottish blood! Thank you for your consideration.

Regards,
Sallobo

Sallobo,

Kintyre is considered Highland, rather then Lowland. You can find lots of maps on the internet that shows the Highland-Lowland divide. But there is also the Southern Uplands around the Border area.

Good luck in your searches

Hi. Well, I'm another American. I have been to Scotland... and I'm moving to Scotland next summer to work.... We'll see how it goes. So, I'm looking to meet people before I go...
Despite the above comment, I found the people in Scotland to be completely friendly and boisterous. The people were great there! I didn't see any animosity towards Americans. Of course, I did go this summer before the Homecoming... I can't imagine the squeeze that was! So... I was asked to come back by the locals... and I think I will.

Whilst I hope you can fulfill your dream of moving to Scotland - our immigration laws are strict. So... unless you intend to study here or fulfill other criteria required, you may only be able to holiday here!

Have a look at the Home Office site, which will give you a lot of information.
