Red face

Mary,

How frightening for you!!! Under the circumstances I do not think you were being dramatic at all. If you remember the fires a couple years back in La Costa, California, (which burned down to the ground over 200 homes), I watched from our backyard how quickly the fire spread over the hills. Pets, photo albums, legal papers and records...I had them all ready to go just in case, (with a few essential wardrobe items...)
Thank Goodness you are safe!

Maureen,

New York is a funny place. Of course it's huge and intimidating and I knew a family on Holiday from Leeds who were completely overwhelmed by the city, (yet find London a piece of cake!) I must say, I find London to seem more safe than NYC myself.

Does anyone know if Scotland is 5 hours ahead in time compared to New York, USA? It's now almost 1:00 in the afternoon here. Thanks!

yes, Imascotlover. The UK is 5 hr.s ahead of EST and 8 hours ahead of PST., (the time referenced for posts).

Maureen,
I'm glad your starting to feel better. (California is still rather warm and I have a hot jacuzzi for you to soak in...sounding more enticing...?)
