Tell me about a Scotland please!

Hello there! Thank you for popping in here!

My name is Victoria and I'm a 23 year old girl from Sweden. Between the third and seventeenth of May I'll be in Edinburgh, rummaging through the streets in search of "Scottish" culture, while scoffing down Haggis and Scotch Whiskey of course

I am looking for penpals, and/or kind souls who care to tell me a wee bit about Scotland and its many wonders. Perhaps you are Scottish yourself, or you have been there and can tell me about different places one should visit(or avoid). In return, I can tell you everything I know about Sweden.

In any case, please write to me! Ye won't regret it

Sincerely,
Vicky

Hello, Vicky, and welcome to Scotland.com.

Rummaging through the streets sounds fun. One thing, you have to spell Scottish whiskey as "whisky", because the "whiskEy" spelling is for Irish whiskey. It hardly matters, though, as no one will know how you are spelling it when you are asking for whisky in pubs.

I am in Glasgow, not Edinburgh, and I am not a pen-pal and not even a "kind soul" , but if you would post a message in the Scotland Dot C*m*on Inn forum I hope someone from Edinburgh might come along to help you.

I hope you have a lovely time when you visit, and by May the weather should be better. (It's OK just now, but there are sneaky bits of winter still hanging around).

DO try the Scotland Dot C*m*on Inn forum, because most people don't read the pen-pals forum, so you will find more people there. And if there is anything in particular that you want to ask about, go right ahead, and we will try to help.

Welcome
If you want to fit it, please spell whisky the Scottish way (without an 'e')

I think you'll find that the Scots are merriest at Hogmanay, not in May/June.

Well, it's going to be a wee bit difficult finding out since I'm only going in May; I will just have to take your word for it ey

What is Hogmanay btw?
