I'm American too, but my sweets lives in Scotland. I've been there 5 times now, and i'm on my way back there in 4 weeks.. I canni wait.. and after that, all is set to move there in 2006..

I hope you get to go there, it is beautiful and everyone I spoke with was very nice to me

Are you, by chance, a Diana Gabaldon fan??? Hmmm.... I have a feeling you must have read her Outlander series!
I, too, am an American lass longing to go to Scotland! My Scottish roots are a long time back, but I still relate to them a lot more than my more German roots.

Hey! How'd you know I'm a Gabaldon fan? Actually just found her books a couple of years ago. I was working in a book store, my television was broken, and I needed something to read. We had a display of her books, so I picked one up and I've been hooked ever since.

My roots go back to my great grandparents on both my father's and mother's sides. But just about everyone that I have tracked back has come from somewhere in Scotland. One of these days I'll get it all straight. If you can believe the information my cousin dug up, I'm related in a round about way to William Wallace.

I would love to go to Scotland! I'm trying to convince my very Italian husband to go there, but if it ain't Italy, it ain't worth the trip.

Whereabouts in America are you? I'm up here in Connecticut.

Hey there! Sorry it took me a while to respond. Where in America do you live? Where in Scotland are you moving to? I am soo jealous! I would kill to go there just once, and you've been there 5 times.

I do hope I get there, too. I'm excited to go, and bring my daughter, too. The more I dig into my family history the more people I find from Scotland. I'm hoping to have enough information to bring with me that I can look up some records when I'm there.

Your ID "Jaime_Fraser" completely gave you away as being a Gabaldon fan! I love her Outlander series, too!
As for me, I'm a hoosier born & raised, in norther Indiana. My grandmother was a Robinson & I've traced her ancestors back to the 1500's where the family is linked with Bruce (not "The" Bruce, but does seem to be a cousin). My maternal grandfather was very Scottish looking... tall, grand, very handsome features... and was very proud of his Scot's heritage! So, I, too, am longing to see Scotland! Especially the Perth area where my family came from. A friend & I are trying to save up for a vacation there (her husband isn't interested in going either), and hope to be ready in the next year or so.
