Teuchter: well I knew, but I found it is an art to decribe things concise to the point in a way (almost) everybody can understand.
Everybody knew? I'd say almost everybody does not. Especially in the US you may find a strange and almost funny way of perceptions about the old world.

As far as I am aware the last native spaeker of Manx snuffed it around a hundred years ago. There most certainly is a program to revive the language.

I speak Gàidhlig, but not much, and I've friends here in Sweden that think it sis a made-up language. A´nd yes, Manx is still spoken, BUT, it is spoken not by native speakers, but by learners. Something like Latin I think...

Does anybody knows Karen Marie Moning? What do you think about her Highland/Timetravel novels?
