I have a lot of Scottish ancestry on both sides of my family, including Urquhart, Johnston, Peebles, Forbes, Robertson, MacKay, and about ten others. That puts my ancestry fairly all over Scotland as well as Wales and Scots-Irish in Northern Ireland (MacIntyre). Many of them were likely Jacobites and they emigrated mostly to Canada, but some came to America as early as the 1600's. I don't know why.

Come to think of it... I was drawn to the place in America where they arrived and lived before I knew my ancestors were from there, too! I used to live in Kittery Point, Maine (a tiny little place) and loved it there quite a bit, and it's less than two miles from Kittery where several of my ancestors emigrated. I would gladly live there again. And Boston was always my favorite major U.S. city... and that was the port of entry for my ancestors from Aberdeen, where they lived for several generations. I spent a lot of time wandering the old cemeteries when i was there... don't know why, they were just interesting.

All the same, i'm not sure i buy into the previous life thing. It's easy to find coincidences after the fact and ignore non-supporting or conflicting evidence.

This is not what Scotland is about. We are also very European in our culture, more so than England I suggest! So please try to see past the shortbread. [/b]

I'm sorry Marti... honestly, I don't presume to know anythign about the Scottish culture or traditions... hopefully my trip to the library today will shed at least a little light on that.

Wink Thoughts and comments

Hi everyone!! Just thought I would leave a reply before I head off on vacation tomorrow. I'm glad pattycakes and HollyElise are back. Where are you - lady of eileen donan?? I wanted to hear yout thoughts and feelings.
And Marti33 - Thanks for keeping us "in check". Since you are a native of Scotland, I am sure we could learn a lot from your perspective. Any comments on our PAST LIVES theme or feelings you'd like to share? Can we possibly ask you specific questions about Scotland? We'd love to bring you into the fold, if you would be interested. If not, just keep monitoring our comments and correcting our misconceptions about all things Scottish. THANKS!!

Anyway, I wanted to leave you guys with some more food for thought. Getting back to the Evolution Angel, here's an excerpt about soul mates:

DR. ABRAMS: What is the usual way (for soulmates to be brought together)?
RESPONSE: Soul mates bring themselves together - in advance. In almost all cases, soul mates already know each other, before their lives on Earth. Before they take birth, they set things up so that they will meet at just the right time to accomplish specific goals they feel are important.
DR. A: Like what? What kinds of goals are you talking about?
RESPONSE: One of the most common goals is a deepening of the bond that already exists between them. Two souls that are already bonded often wish to grow closer..... Such individuals design their lives so that this will be accomplished in a very definitve and efficient manner.
Actually, one of the best ways to grow closer is through separation. The feeling of separation makes soul mates appreciate each other all the more when they finally "find" each other. As you often say there, "absence makes the heart grow fonder".
***********************************************
Dr. A: Would it be safe to say, however, that two soul mates will always choose to stay together with each other?
RESPONSE: Yes and no. Soul mates by definition will nearly always remain bonded for eternity. But there may be more than two soul mates in a group. Soul mates may consist of extended families, and members may assume many different roles with each other in new existences.
Dr. A: How many soul mates may be in one of these groups?
RESPONSE: Typically a group with anywhere from three to four to, say, several hundred will form the core or nucleus of the soul mate group. But the extended soul mate group may contain billions, as is the case with the souls on Earth.
DR. A: Are you saying that all of the people on Earth are actually soul mates?
RESPONSE: Basically, yes. In fact, all of the fifty trillion cells in your body are soul mates. All of the molecules of water in the ocean are soul mates. All of the molecules of gas within a star are soul mates, and all the stars in a galaxy are soul mates. It's so much bigger than humans can imagine. You are so terribly anthropomorphic that you can't conceive of any form of intelligence other that human intelligence. Very silly really. If you only knew.
As far as the souls on Earth are concerned: In reality most of you know each other and are terribly fond of one another. You have set up an amazingly elaborate system of interwoven relationships that you designed to help you correct problems you have experienced in getting together. It is working very well, I might add.
I especially like the developments in communication and transportation that you have thrown in. The Internet is especially promising. A very nice touch. Before long you will be able to share information with each other and visit each other with great fluidity. That will help enormously. But remember, you are on a plane that uses processes of cause and effect to keep things moving. So this won't happen overnight. It will all take time.
DR. A: So we aren't going to blow each other up? There isn't going to be a gigantic Armageddon like some people say? I've never bought into that anyway.
RESPONSE: (Laughing)Of course not. That's nonsense. The Armageddon, the Rapture, all of that will happen all right, but you have to realize that they will happen INSIDE you. These are metaphors for things that happen to the soul as it passes through critical phases of evolution.
********************************************************
KIND OF BLOWS YOUR MIND, DOESN'T IT? That's it for now. You guys have to carry on without me. I'll be back on the 30th or 31st. Write some juicy stuff. Take care!! KATHY

don't really have a Scottish perspective on 'past lives', but ask me any questions and I will answer them.

That is true you won't know a place until your actually there experiencing it for yourself and that is what I'm hoping to do very soon.
To feel the soil of Scotland under my feet and wind of the Highlands on my face! For I know I was once there long ago.
