You may have confused the US with the Midle East?! LOL No, not funny because blowing people up really is happening there.

The majority of states in the US have either already in place a ban on smoking in public places or these bans are in the works.

The anti second hand smoke campaigners are very powerful.

I do not smoke but because of my upbringing and my support of personal choice and free will, I can state that "I may not agree with your decision to smoke but I will defend your right to do so". Why can't there be designated smoking places? Or is that just too simple?

Might sound like a stupid question, but smoking is still allowed outdoors, or isn't it? I heard of a village in the USA where smoking is prohibited EVERYWHERE, even on the street. It's not the same in Scotland now, is it?

Including bus shelters, which is taking it a little too far. And you can't smoke withing hours of workmen coming into your home, or they can refuse to enter.

Only bus shelters that are more than 50% enclosed. Many more open types remain perfectly legal to smoke in. Bus companies have been less than honest with the no smoking signs in some places & there seems to be no provision in this law for punising those who get overenthusastic about applying it.

The same 50% "ratio of openness" also applies to tents, marquees & other sorts of temporary structure as well.
