Haggis, neeps and tatties (hmmm)
Stovies
Chips (french fries is what you lot call em) from a Chip shop
Mars bar coated in batter (sometimes called scrunchies)
Deep fried pizza
Royal highland shortbread
Tennant's lager
Bell's (LOL) / famous grouse whiskey (often the instigator of one of my many hangovers)
TC
Noooooo!!!! Don't go near the blended whiskys. Go for a decent malt; Lagavulin, Tomintoul, Highland Park etc.

A few more to add:
Mince and tatties. 'Specially with scrappy pudding (same mix as yorkshire puddings, but in a slab)
Crannachan. A gorgeous dessert.
Chips smothered in grated cheese

Have a wee looksy at the cuisine thread for how to make some of these delicacies.

Looking back on these foods is it any wonder Scotland has one of the highest rates of heart disease in the world! Though I hear Russia've just beat us.

TC. Have you actually tried those deep fried Mars Bars? Yeuch! The very idea turns my stomach.

Mata ne, Karasu.

Love the names of these foods

Thanks for the suggestions. While a fried Mars bar doesn't horrify me, deep fried pizza does. But hey, as a chef I'll try anything once. Can't wait to get there!

Hiya Kenny. C'mon in man, the mair the merrier.

It's seems like a wee bitty of a clique to begin with, but we don't bite. Well, not all the time!

MsGreg. Don't try anything once, try it twice. The first time just to see how it goes. The second to see if you actually enjoyed it in the first place!

Mata ne, Karasu.

Wink USA

Howdy from Nebraska. Contrary to what many people think, we don't live in sod houses and work in the fields all day. I actually work for a photographer. I have 2 kids and I married my high school sweetheart. I love all kinds of sports...basketball is my fave. GO LAKERS!
I've never been to Scotland or anywhere overseas for that matter. But some day I hope to visit.
