Wanting to Move From USA to Scotland

Hi all,

I've been wanting to relocate to Europe for a long time now and I've been considering Scotland because I have family who live there. I want to relocate for personal reasons, but I would need to be able to get a job once I get here. The US economy is pretty bad right now, but I heard the UK and the rest of Europe is even worse. Is this true? Also, I want to see if I can go to college in Scotland. How can I go about this?

Thanks in advance.

Hi there, be sure to check in the Moving forum for info regarding relocating. It's difficult I understand, but can be done.

Best of luck!

tig, if you can't further the discussion then pleas don't pull items for other threads to cause potential issues. This is not the place. If you have a comment for someone, take it to private messages. kv

Huh?

It is impossible for an American to become a Scot - you must be born in Scotland to be considered Scottish...

Of course, if you have the time and money, I'm sure some Scottish landlord will rent you an apartment for an extended period and you can go to college on a student Visa...maybe even land a job - but always you will be "The Yank" - even if your family name is Scottish.

I know this is a hard concept for an American to understand, as our ancestors come from the four corners of the earth - we are a nation of immigrants - but the sons and daughters of immigrants are not welcome as equals back to the old country.

Anyhow, what's the point of giving up American socialism for European socialism? It's the same old crap in a different bottle.
