Scotland.com
Hi, I'm new here, live in Edinburgh and travel all around the Highlands and Islands through work.
I'm curious as to how the scotland.com domain name came to be an American owned site? |

Cheers Kathy, so how did you come to be a 'Scotland moderator' and is this a 'hobby' or 'paid' job?, if you don't mind me asking
.Some of the stuff on here goes back to around 1999 and a few years ago I discovered some of my youtube videos were linked to here, so I take it that that whoever runs the site, updates it regularily, adding uptodate scottish news and info? ps if you have any need for scenic photos of Scotland incl castles, don't hesitate to ask me, as I've got a fair number from my travels through work and tourguiding some US friends. Cheers Alan |

Tantaloon, it's a volunteer activity. We have 2 'super mods' one in GMT time and one in Pacific time, helps monitor things as round the clock as we can. I signed up to help with the moderating after I'd been a member here for a while. Back when the site was much more active than it is today, sadly. Places like twitter and facebook have kind of cut back on this kind of social networking.
There are administrators as well, not sure how they run as fas as occupation wise. Then there are regular mods who are also volunteer, and like the super mods, they all began as members. It's something we do out of enjoyment of the site, the interest in the people and the love of the location! Any time you have pics feel free to post them. I know there are info and pic links on the home page of s.com but I don't know who runs that part of things. I think it is updated fairly regularly though. |
