New member and seekng info on citizenship

Hi. My dad was born in Blantyre in 1913 and became naturalized american citizen and is niw deceased. As his son may I apply for scottish citizenship?

Yes, is probably the short answer!

However, you would need to prove that you were able to support yourself.
Have a look at the UK's immigration site.

Question

Thanks. I have heard that since my dad was born in Scotland, I , as his son could obtain citizenship (or dual citizenship). The various Border sites do not speak to this. I've tried vsiting and speaking to our Brit Consulate and they all refer me back to the Border website.

As Scotland is presently still part of the UK, there is actually no specific Scottish citizenship, we all travel on UK passports. Perhaps that's why you keep getting referrred back to UK sites?

The UKYankee is a site full of information from Americans who live/lived in the UK.
