The Vikings are back :)

Something short about myselt then: I'm Swedish, but I like the so called "celtic culture" a lot, the music, dances, etc. I've been dancing Scottish country dances for some years, (also tried a bit highland dancing, but I'll never be good at it, lol). I also fell in love with Blair castle on my first visit to Scotland, so it was natural to search for their tartan when I needed a sasch to dance in. I soon found out the tartan is not "open", not sold in shops, but that one could write and ask persmission to wear it, so for some years now I've been feeling very proud when I have my Murray sasch on.

I'm also interested in languages, and since the Scottish version of English has a lot of Scandinavian words in it, that other English versions lack, it's also interesting to look at. Well, that's why I'm "invading" the forum
/Anna

PS I'm a writer, and in my last novel, a character had to be Scottish of course. The book's in Swedish, but I have some English lines in it, and got help to "translate" what that character says to Scottish English, letting the others or the context explain what he's saying.

hi Anna ,
some of the Vikings never left Scotland
thats why many of us , the world over , have Norse as an integral part of our Scots ancestry
