Hi from me...
Hi all,
Just wanted to say a big hi from me! I'm a forum noob so please welcome and teach me hahaWhile I'm here, does anyone know if the name Healy was ever a Scottish Clan in at all? I know it has Irish connections but as far back as anyone knows my family has been from Scotland! Maybe a stupid question, but I've always wondered if there ever was! Anyways, chat soon! Darren |

Hello
A very cursory google search seems to show that Heal(e)y is an Irish name from counties Sligo and Cork. Doesn't mean that you family weren't from Scotland for a few generations, though. The Famine and other waves of Irish immigration brought many Irish families to Scotland and other parts of the mainland. If it was an Irish name, then it was obviously never part of a Scottish clan. You need to trace back your family to the first immigrant to your country - then you may be able to trace back to where in Scotland THEY originated, and from that, where they came from in Ireland. Good luck with your research!

The family of Scotland is very open and cares not for genetics nor riches.
If you wish to be a part of Scotland then you are. Healy, if settled in Scotland, is Scottish. Everybody originally came from Africa if you go far enough back, so it's down to desire ultimately. |
