New here....

Hello everyone. My name is Michelle Barton-Marchington and I live in the US, born is Washington state & raised in Texas...right now in Colorado. We will be moving to Hawaii in a few months. My husband has orders to move there, he is currently on his way home from another deployment in Iraq

My gr. gr. Uncle J.R. McCroskey started me on my family history, since I grew up knowing no one in my extended family until I started asking questions when I was about 15. So I have been doing research now for 17 yrs. With all the info given to me, we know that my 7x gr. grandfather was John McCroskey(b. 1680 Wigtown & m.Elizabeth Gay, b.Ayr)....traced to Antrim, Ireland in the early 1700's; which I believe they came from Scotland with the last wave of the Plantation. I have contacted McCroskey's in southern Ireland and there is no connection with them. I did find alternate spellings of McCroskey (Gaelic-MacChosgrach, MacCroskie, MacCoskrie, etc) and found MacCroskie in District of Galloway. This is the point I am stuck on.....not sure where to go from here.

I have read a lot of the discussions on this forum already. I must say you guys/gals can be quite lively I am not going to say I know everything there is to know about my ancestors or the history of the area....but this is why I am here, to look for the knowledge, to understand & maybe even find answers to my questions.

Sorry this is so long.......if you have questions feel free to ask.

you might want to check Scotster: as well for a good blether, photos and history/clans. I used to be a member for a over a year and made some good friends in the U.S. but it can get a bit mental at times as folk occasionally seemed to forget that they are talking to real live human beings.

Contact member by PM should you wish link info. kv
