canuck woman with scottish fascinations

I live in Canada but love all things Scottish. I have family there, Aberdeenshire area. I was there in July, Largs to Fraserburgh to Sterling, then back to Glasgow and home to Canada. I miss the country and the people. Just need to feel some connection so I thought this might offer a link. I also have started to study some very basic Gaelic. My father speaks Doric and Scots. My name is Lorna, which explains the "doone". Would love to have the chance to chat with anyone in Scotland.

You will find that there are very few of us who are natives of Scotland on here, Doone. This is an American owned-site!

Welcome, Doone. I'm a newbie here myself and a rare bird ~ a native of Scotland born and bred. I have relatives in and around Vancouver.

I think you'll find that many of us, even though we don't live there, actually have been there or have some ties to a place in Scotland. There are those who are also interested in the history and may have ancestors who came from there.

I don't think you'll have any trouble finding people who can speak of the place with first hand/knowledgeable experience.

I have been lucky enough to visit several times and am happy to share or point a person to someone who can help or discuss better than I.

Ochilsman is not alone - I'm from Edinburgh - and there are a few of us who are native - but only a few!
