As you can see by the 'join date' of some of the members.... this site has been going a fair while, under different owners.

One of the members has asked, frequently, whether the membership can be 'cleaned up' - many of those thousands have never posted once!

Look in the feedback forum and you will find various threads on many topics which should answer your questions!
