I am a 2nd generation American; my father's father was born in Scotland in 1898 and emigrated to America in 1922. Sadly, he died when my father was 5, and his mother (my grandmother) was from New England (and of dutch/german heritage) so we know very little about him or his life in Scotland.

My family and I (4 adults only) are planning a trip to Scotland in the next year or two and would be very interested in learning more about traveling to and throughout Scotland in general, as well as any specific information available about our Swanston surname and Clan Cameron.

Ideally, we would like to locate living Swanston cousins in Scotland for a brief visit (NOT an imposition), as well as a quick stop at the town of Swanston just south of Edinburgh.

We welcome anyone with information, recommendations, questions or similar interests to contact us via email.

Cameron info should be easily found via Rampant Scotland Directory or www.electricscotland.com Both sites accept info without verification, so make sure you check any info with another source!

If you look at the Clan forum and the travelling forum on this board, you'll find lots of info. If you then have any specific questions, I'm sure someone here will be able to help.

Fuathas, thanks for your response. We don't have any plans to visit Germany or Netherlands at this time - one major project at a time for me. However, I am also interested in my grandmother's family, surname Rosenbrock, but will try to remain on relavant topic in this forum.
