excuse me for being cynical, but how does having an ancestor named Bell make you part Scottish? it is common throughout ALL of Britain, not just Scotland!

Hi thedailyflash and welcome to Scotland.com

I would think by now you will have seen that we do have a political section
and it is used !!

I hope you will join in if you see something that interests you !!

'part scottish'...I think a load could claim that due to ancestry but I would
if I was you definately look into where the 'Bell' connection was from before
mentioning it as the Scots in here can get touchy about claims like that
lololol

Personally I couldn't care if someone wants to claim to be Scottish or even partly Scottish, after all there are more people around the world that are at least partly Scottish than there are in Scotland! However, it would make more sense if someone was to use a more realistic claim than a surname that is in the top 100 most common surnames in Britain. It isn't even as if its a Scottish name. Actually it originates in France as far as I know. So maybe this person is partly French!
