Hi all, christ the barrowlans and Locarno, you are all showing your age. How about the Elizabeathan club, with LULU and the {oets. Now theres age for you. Lena Martell came to the states , Las Vagas, but didn't quite make it over hear. Where she is now I can't say but did enjoy her singing. Mac

Do they still have the actual "barras"? Don't remember the Flamingo as I stayed in Maryhill and it was too much of a trot for me to go past Argyle Street. As for the "twist", well that was AFTER my time believe it or not. We had just learned to do the gitterbug!!!! So there..... now you know. I remember at the Locarno (before the twist and the gitterbug), when girls could NOT refuse a bloke when he asked us to dance. I was continually being asked by one guy who had the worst B.O. I ever smelled in my life!!!! I used to spend all my time dodging around trying to get rid of him. It was awful - nearly put me off dancing for life. However, I must admit no-one ever used deodorants in those days - just baby powder!! (And they say that was the good old times).

Nice to hear from you.

Yup, they do still have the "barras" out there. All the usual things, with a few twists... one of the stalls has a speywife (who has turned out to be scarily accurate, as it goes!).

The Dancin.'

Thanks all you oldies for giving your
views on the dancin'. I actually forgot
about this thread and glad to see it
alive again!
Kiltie, didn't realize Lena went to the
States and didn't make it. Still like to
know what happened to her.I still play
her C.D's.

Kirstie, did that guy with B.O. ever hear
about Lifeboy Soap? Must have been
purgatory for you dodging around him.

Portweymss - I take it that you visited
the spey wife at the Barras and
discovered things about yourself that
have come true. How much do they charge now?

Glad to talk more about the Dancin' and
music that is meaningful to our age group.

Good on Ya! Lizwest
