American music

What do people in Scotland think about American music (especially rock, hard rock, and alternative or indy rock)?? I am new to the site and I love music but don't see too much reference to american music so I was curious.

Best rock bands in the world

Foo Fighters are an American band and are also the best band in the World. And have been the best band in the world for the past 16 years. Before them Nirvana, another American band were the best band in the world. Interestingly the drummer in the latter went on to become guitarist/singer in the former.

Glad to hear you say that. Do you know of any Scottish bands that I may be interested in? Although I like all kinds of music I mostly stay in the Rock genre. What can I say, I was a teenager in the late 80's early 90's and I haven't quite grown out of it. Def Leppard was my favorite growing up. Not to mention the huge crush I had on Joe Elliot. I listen to bands in America like Seether, Three Days Grace, Theory of a Deadman, Paramore, Flyleaf. Just picked up a CD today for a pretty new band called My Darkest Days. The radio stations around here are not very good so I'm always looking for new music.

i love some american music too..............

Scan 7 and all those from detriot are ground breaking excellent bands.

then youve got your historical music like derek may with his "strings of life" (the best tune EVER written)

theres loads more i could think of but those two would be the apex of it all as far as i can see

YouTube - Derrick May - Strings Of Life

Hi Alan, I like the old school rock too. My brother was older than me and also a little less wild and he played guitar. He listened and played a lot of the bands you listed. Sometimes it was painful listening to him learning how to play the songs. You would hear the same chords over and over and over. lol!!! But some of it stuck with me and if I hear John Cougar Mellencamp on the radio I have to turn it up!!

Hi Tig, I tried to go onto the you tube link but it's running really slow right now. I will have to check it out later to see if it's really the best tune ever written. Thanks for the suggestions and let me know if you think of anyone else I would be interested in.
