William Crabb painter XIX century
Hi,
I'm a new member, writing from Poland, so pls forgive me my English. I've been looking for info about William Crabb, Scotch painter, born in Laurencekirk in 1811. I bought his picture, a portrait of a man painted in 1857? or 1859? (the last number is somewhat fuzzy). I would like to discover who is the portrayed man. He is a gentelman with sideburns, similar to that on portrait in TV clip "Sing" by Travis. Could someone help me in my private investigation? Perhaps I have a portrait of somebody's great-great -grandpa? Ania |

The review seems to say he isn't a popular artist - it may well be that info regarding him is difficult to come by!
You could always try contacting the National Gallery in Edinburgh. National Galleries of Scotland − Home
