Marymac, try what Sonsie suggested to me when I wanted the tune to a Scots song:

"Try doing lyric searches at the Mudcat Cafe - <A HREF="http://www.mudcat.org"" TARGET=_blank>http://www.mudcat.org"</A>

If you have other information about "Nobody's Child," to tell us, that might help. I have no idea if it's Scots, not, traditional or not. Helps to place it in time and space to get some answers.

Good luck!
Rhiannon

Thumbs up

as I was slowley passing an orphans home one day
I stopped for just a little while to watch the children play
alone a boy was standing and when i asked him why
he turned with eyes that could not see and he began to cry

ch Im nobodies child Im no-o- bodies child
Im like the flowers Im growing wild
No mumies kisses and no dadies smiles no body wants me Im no bodies child

people come for children and take them for their own
they never seam to notice me for I am left alone
I know they'd like to take me but when they see im blind
they always take another child and I am left behind

ch

No mumies arms to hold me or sooth me when I cry
sometimes I get so lonely I wish that I could die
I'd walk the streets of heaven where all the blind can see
and then like all the other kids ther'd be a home for me
ch
