Fiesta Fusion at Big in Falkirk
Your chance to make a noise at Big in Falkirk!
Over 100,000 people enjoy watching the wide variety of entertainment on offer across Big in Falkirk’s two days, but have you ever dreamt of being part of it? Organisers are on the lookout for enthusiastic people of 16 years of age and over with a sense of adventure to get involved with Fiesta Fusion – Big in Falkirk’s new streetband project. Fiesta Fusion is the brainchild of musicians Olivia Furness and Marcus Britton from the popular, Edinburgh-based street music band, Orkestra del Sol, who delighted audiences at last year’s Big in Falkirk with their feel-good carnival sounds. Through weekly, free sessions in the build up to this year’s Big in Falkirk spectacular, participants will get the chance to develop their musical skills as well as have a fun time in the process. The project will lead to the creation of a Falkirk Street Band that will have an opportunity to perform at Big in Falkirk on Saturday 3 & Sunday 4 May. The project is particularly suited to players of all brass instruments, saxophones and clarinets, as well as percussionists. However, Furness and Britton stress that enthusiasm is more important than experience, so if you’ve always dreamt of being part of a carnival band, now's your chance! To get involved, bring yourself and your instrument along to the Fiesta Fusion Taster Session on Sunday 2 March, 2pm to 6pm at St. Modan’s Parish Church Hall, Manse Place, Kirk Wynd, Falkirk. Even if you don’t have an instrument but are up for the challenge, come along! For further information, contact Elaine Craig, Arts Development Officer, Falkirk Council on 01324 503 741. |
