Hello, now that I've remembered my password I can write something, hahaha. Anyways, It turns out my set of pipes was loaded with leaks and not a good set (the antique one) so I now have a new set of pipes. The African black wood is a bit brown but it will age and turn.
However, I was just wondering about everyone elses pipes out there...Mine is a pretty normal set. I want to know about yours though. Type of wood, skin, ferruels, all the good stuff ya know. Maybe even a picture. Once I find out how to put a picture in a send one of my new set of pipes.

I havenae got a set of pipes yet...I'm going to wait till i discipline myself to practise more.
I have been told, though, that once i get the pipes i'll want to practise.
Which comes first ..the chicken or the egg?

Hahaha, I know what you mean. But the one thing that I can think of that describes that to a tee...
Technique problems that occur when you play the chanter that aren't that noticable show up like a white guy in harlem! hahaha
If you think you're hot stuff now, wait until you have to keep a sheep skin bag full enough to pump air through four different pipes while playing a 10 minute song and if you're lucky while marching. It's fun stuff but the pipes are a whole new level. Good luck with ya Jarmine. Someday we'll play together

Iain - I've got a Shepherd chanter, African blackwood drones (can't remember who made 'em, it's another Scottish manufacturer), nickel/plastic farrels and good ol' EZ-Drone reeds. I want to get a leather-Gortex bag sometime soon (I hate seasoning the bag), but until then, I've got a cow-leather bag.

hey ceol mhor, i know just what you mean. Seasoning can be a hassal if you need to get somewhere and you realize you're kinda stail. But then again the hide bag sounds a little different then the gortex. You should look into...im trying to think of the name and can't... a friend recently bought one...hmmmmmmm...well its a synthetic bag that has traps too all the drones collecting water and it has a box full of kitty litter in it. All the air has to pass through the kitty litter and when it does it looses all of its moisture. I heard it was really great but its also expensive i think. Until then though, season away. hahaha
