Well it seems to me Bubba that you're off on a really good foot, already playing weddings and all...however all of the tunes you just listed are what we call, light tunes. That would be the marches, reels, slow airs, all that. And all of those songs can be found in a book I recomend to beginners "Begining the bagpipe by Sandy Jones". Soon enough you'll be learning Piobaireachd.
So how is everyone else doing on their chanting? ------------------ Tha a'ghrain ag čirigh. Iain |

Greetings: Are any of yous going to the Millennium Piper Fest in Edinburgh at the First of August? 10,000 pipes and drums in parade... Awesome! So many tunes so little time. Here's some good ones... John MacDonald of Glencoe... The Argyls Crossing the River Po.... Loch Marie...The Children. Bonnie Dundee... Glendaruel Highlanders.. All good marches. Some good strathspeys are Orange and Blue... Louden's Bonnie Woods and Braes...Molly Connell... Reels: Piper of Drummond and Jock Wilson's Ball... Hornpipes: Sandy's New Chanter and The Late Answer(that one has a lot of clatter shakes).A couple of my favorite Piobaireachds are A Lament for Mary MacLeod...The Sprees...and another that I will be working on after Scotland, His Father's Lament for Donald MacKenzie...
I have been playin' pipes a little over four years. Started as a drummer at ten (35 years ago). I have Kintail pipes. May look for another set while in Scotland so I can have one for the corps that I play with and another for solo. |
