Looks pretty quiet in here today. I hope you all have had a super weekend.
I was house Mom to 5 little girls that arrived Friday night & just left at 1pm today. I've had my running shoes on for 2 days. Just finished putting my house back in order. My 2 wee Granddaughters,a cousin of theirs & 2 two friends. The joys of being a Grandma, never cease to warm my heart completely. Can't get enough of those special hugs & kisses,or ,"I Love you Grandma"!! I took a picture of all of them & put it on one of my pages. Also just added pictures of my Scottish Thistle pottery. Go see what you think. Since the girls were born,I have saved & put together all kinds of neat stuff for them to play dress up with. I hit alot of yard sale & always keep an eye out for neat dress up clothes for little girls. I have the accessories all organized in 5 drawer cabinets. My younest Mikayla,LOL,she gets carried away with the layering effect. She might have 4 skirts on,a silp & than a dress. You have to help her with her fashion choices. The girls are such a hoot to watch trying to walk straight in heels. They have a ball though & can play for hours together. Go see my little Diva's at the link below! http://dancinglady.tripod.com/FiestaFriends/id4.html T-you have been on my mind all weekend. Truly wished I knew the answers to get you right back to Scotland. Look at me,I hate it here & also can't wait to leave. But when the time is right,it will happen. I just keep sorting & packing as if the final word has come down. It is hard for a man to walk away when he is not sure of a secure future also. Cahnge does not always come easy to them. Geez,Dawn, glad you saved the hopper. That Diffia plant is suppose to be deadly I've heard. When Scott is in Greece,it will all be for pleasure. No classes. Your husband sounds very busy during the summer. What does he hunt when it's winter? They've been bailing the hay across the street on the Indian land all weekend. I love the smell of fresh cut hay. After the girls left I walked down & meet our new neighbor. He just moved out from Escondido. He moved there from the Midwest,is a builder,& left the SD area, cause he said homes just cost too much! He said a 3BR,14,000Sqft,home can't be touched for over $200.000.00. He said he made good money, but still couldn't get into the size house he wanted. Maureen,I don't feel like a transplant, more like a pioneer. When we moved here there was nothing. Bullhead has grown way to big for my liking. I've lived here just over 24 years, but had been coming out to Lake Mohave since the 60's to water ski & fish. My parents owned property across from the river & had a vacation trailer here. Both my boys are natives, born in Kingman.AZ. I was born & raised in S.CA.,up in Yucaipa,CA. I've done a few Antique shows at the fairgrounds near you & we have friends in Mesa & Scottsdale. Off to start our BQ. Summer I never turn the oven on. Always cook outside. Dawn,I think your June Bugs, are what they call Japenese Beattles. A June bug is emerald green! Tell,Garrett,I caught another big moth,if he wants it? See you later, Kathleen ------------------ MacGilchrist Our own life is the instrument with which we experiment with truth. -Thich Nhat Hanh |

Hi Maureen, the bake sale went very well. Instead of putting prices on things, they had you make a donation. Well, of course on something like that, you're going to pay more than you would if it was priced. I not only donated 4 plates of cookies and banana bread, I paid $20 for a cherry cobbler. The made around $500. They're raising money to buy a newer ambulance as the one they now have won't start half the time. I think it's 20 some or 30 years old.
T-Bird has moved us to a new thread. It's one that had been abandoned here in the music section. something about magazine contributors. Hope to see ya there. |

Kathleen, I guess we posted at the same time, so I missed yours til now. I saw your pics, very nice. Sounds like you had a good weekend. Kevin hunts deer in the winter, 3 different seasons of it, archery, black powder and rifle. Then comes quail season. He hunts turkeys also, but that's mainly to practice for archery season on deer. He fishes all summer, besides working for his dad. We got married in Sept because that's dove season and he doesn't like to eat doves, so he doesn't hunt them much. Very thoughtful of him, wasn't it? He also hunts rattlesnakes sometimes in the spring, they don't kill them, they sell them to people who do for about $6 a pound. He used to hunt coyotes and bobcats for the hides, but they're not worth anything now, so he doesn't do that anymore. I am anti-hunting and I hate guns. I think people who kill animals are sick. But I love my husband and son anyway. I've heard all the arguments from hunters about controlling the population and they always ask me if I eat meat, yes I do, but I don't kill the animals. The arguement to that can go on and on, but I usually just walk away.
So that's life at my house. |

Dawn,
I know what you mean...My brother hunts his own game and puts ram meat away for a season or hunts javelina or turkey etc. Interestingly enough, I mentioned how in the move "Last of the Mohicans" (sp?) that the man did a prayer over the dear he felled. My brother said "I always do that whenever I take an animal". (How interesting....) God knows if I ever had to skin or pluck an animal personally...we would be vegetarians for life! ![]() T...I don't know if this will help or not.... Last February my husband walked away from a six figure income job...he asked the company to buy out his contract. Naturally I freaked out.... But I knew I had to support what his instincts were (plus we've always been in agreement that NO job shoud ever OWN anybody!) He took off for 3 months and (naturally) We went to Paris! (Neither of us with any jobs or making any money at the time...) Even though I was freaked out I finally relented that..."What's the worst that can happen?" We come back and both get jobs somewhere...we sell the house and move God knows where...we declare bankruptcy and live happily ever after...." ![]() The point being that everything in life is a compromise...I didn't want him to stay at a job he hated until he had a heart attack....on the other hand...he may have just pushed his retirement another 5 years further away. There are no easy answers.... I just hope that you and Neil can find an amicable balance that presents a workable solution for the both of you. God knows, we all need a "light at the end of the tunnel" that reminds us all of what we are REALLY working for...I really wish you the very best and sincerly hope something may present itself to expedite your happiness. |

Di, that is interesting about saying a prayer over the animal. I've been reading these books about prehistoric Native Americans and they always did that and also mentioned feeling one with the animal's soul and such. When I mentioned that to Kevin, he said that he felt it too. (that still doesn't change my opinion about hunters
)If you're a reader and are interested at all in these stories, I highly recommend them. They're by Kathleen O'Neal Gear and W. Michael Gear. There are 10 of them so far (I'm 1/2 way through my 9th one) you should read the first one first "People of the Wolf" because there is reference made to the characters in most of the others, but other than that one, I don't think they need to be in any particular order. I read the last one first "People of the Masks" and I was hooked. |

Thanks Wills, & everyone who has commented on or made suggestions with regard to my situation. I cant fight it. There's nothing i can do but wait and see how things go, so i dont really want to talk about it anymore.
Is there a "smilie" with a forced "just grin and bear it" smile? |
