Wow! I've never started a new topic before!

Jelliebean, you don't like Travis... how do you feel about Idlewild? Trash Can Sinatras?

"Trash Can Sinatras?".....lol! (hope they don't do "These Boots are Made for Walking")

T-Bird, remember...Idylwild is the name of a town in the mountains not too far from here?
(Congrats on your new topic, btw!)

(...and I REALLY like Jelliebeans idea of vacation exchanges! Most agaencies charge you a few hundred pounds annually for what we can do on our own!)

Hiya T-Bird & Willy,

I just had to stop in when I saw T-bird had posted. I'm trying to hang out here in the music section & learn about some great celtic music.

It's a Small world agian.

Idylwild,CA. is up out of Banning,CA.,close to Palm Springs. I used to go there in the summer for camp. I also took both my boys there for camp, even when we lived out here in AZ. I remember they had a fire once when I was there & we had to hurry down the MT, the back way into Hemet to get home.

Way to Go T-bird

Let's Celebrate.

A little body paint, music & a big fire to get our feet dancing to the music
(That's the Edinburgh Beltane Festival,I'm going to post for Becca.)

Willy,I already picked out a house in Fort Williams I want to stay in. That is a great idea,I agree,of Jelliebeans. Vacation exchanges!

Only problem, looks like the Scots all want to come your way in CA. & SF

Doesn't anyone want to come see the London Bridge or Grand Canyon out my way

Maybe when I get moved to the Black Hills, the will be want to trade with me.

Kathleen

Kathleen,
I'm not even sure what the fascination with CA is, (most visitors I tend to tell them to go to the Giant Redwoods or the Grand Canyon...call me a "naturelist", I guess)

I DO know that since you made your post, all day long the tune "Take Me Back To The Black Hills, The Black Hills of Dakota..." has been playing in my mind!!! (remember Doris Day in "Calamate Jane" gosh I loved that movie!)

Hiya!
Willy, dunno about "Boots", but at the last Trash Can Sinatras concert i went to, they did actually play"The Lady is a Tramp"! It was classic! Yes, i remember the town of Idylwild.. i dont know if i have ever been there or not, though.

Kathleen, i dont want to give the impression that any of these bands i am talking about are "celtic" music... they are just normal pop bands whose members happen to be from Scotland. It isnt what you would think of as "celtic" music in the "world music" sense. Travis & Trash Can Sinatras are pretty mellow & introspective, although the Sinatras do have their wilder moments! Idlewild are pretty much a punk/grunge band... i was searching for something opposite of Travis that Jelliebean might like, as she doesnt like Travis (but she does like that cutie Fran! Meeee toooooooo!)

When i was (convoluted Bob Dylan reference coming up) "Stuck in California with the Glasgow Blues again", alot of my pals from Glasgow used to come out and see me, and they ALL wanted to see the Grand Canyon. I have been out there so many times with carloads of Scotsmen! There is a pizza place in a tiny town down the hill from the GC.. i cant remember what its called but we ordered this giant Cheeseburger pizza, and it was so excellent!!! If they had known about Laughlin they probably would have wanted to go there too... we all liked casinos!

Jelliebean!
I saw the repeat of the Ali G show last night with Fran from Travis ... he is just soooo tasty! I liked it when Ali G gave him the cap and said "I feel sorry for you, so i gonna borrow you this".

Thumbs up

Hey, T-Bird, your own topic, cool! Are you getting the emails when we post? It's nice to know when someone has added on.
I'm sorry, but I don't know the bands you mentioned, I think I've heard of Idlewild, but Trash Can Sinatras? I'll have to ask my resident music expert, but she's not here right now. If they are not available here, mayb you can bring me copies when I come to visit you in Amarillo this summer.
How's that?
I like your new signature, too. Maybe I should come up with one a little more original than...
