Hi All!

Yes, Jells....I am sure I am now considered to be a "pot-head"! LOL! (If they only knew how conservative I really am.) As for cigarettes I only started smoking a few when work was stressful a little over a year ago. I quit the job but didn't quite give up on cigarettes altogether.

As for beer I would say the New Castle Ale is fairly prominant over here and many places sell Guinness. I can go to specialty stores and find Merlin's Ale and a few others but I'll be darned if I can find any Tennents! As far as wine goes you can find some pretty good California wines but when it comes to Beaujolais it has to be French!
(BTW, I still haven't seen anyone debate my husband's doctors recommending a couple glasses of wine at dinner...even though we know...alcohol is a drug!)

LOL Willy. I have decongestant tablets that make me high (I think I have a very sensitive system). I've got high on Cayenne pepper before (not intentionally of course, I just put too much on my pasta sauce). I think with the wine it works as with all drugs and stimulants, balance is the essential factor. I know not to have three coffees one after the other or I just go absolutely crazy. I've done drugs in the past and I've been through some pretty self-destructive phases with alcohol, especially after my dad died. People will destroy themselves and others whether the substance they use is illegal or not I guess. It's part of life. Everyone wants to find ways of shutting stuff out, some get wise, others don't. What can you do? It's such a difficult subject to discuss. <sigh> life is never easy is it?

Yes Jells,
I take an allergy medication called Entex. The Dr. prescribes 2 a day but they make me so "speedy" I only take 1, otherwise, I would have to sedate myself with over the counter Tylenol PM's! LOL! (But don't you dare suggest taking away our legalized drugs...)

What kills me is when my mom died of cancer 20 years ago my brother tried to convince her earlier to take a few puffs of marijuana to ease her sickness and her pain. My mother never would of course because it was illegal. When she passed away I remember she had some pain pills left over. I took one one time and thought, "My God, these things are potent!" It made me realize just how much pain she must have been in. I think a natural substance would have been much safer than a chemical drug that totally throws you for a loop, (...but that's the American mentality.)

Yep. chemicals are so much in everything now that no-ne knows what they're taking unless they have a science degree. It's such an awful thought that your mother could be in that much pain and parents never tell their children how much it really hurts do they? Thank God that my Dad didn't suffer a long illness.
