Ah, Van the Man! Doesn't he seem like a modern Irish troubador? I love him too. He's been a big influence on a lot of singers and songwriters over the years.
Do you know what he's up to recently, any new releases? I remember seeing a wonderful program on tv a long time ago that showed Van with the late John Lee Hooker, playing and singing together... the respect and fondness for the old bluesman was evident on Van's face. I wish he'd record with some of the newer performers, that would be nice! Susan

(chuckle) I actually bought some Tupelo Honey at the grocery awhile back and stood there looking at, humming Van's song. I am HOPEless! But I sure have a lot of fun...
I visited New Orleans when I was 18 on a family vacation; it made a big impression on me because visually its so different-looking from where I've lived, and I loved the way the music was simply everywhere. One of the highlights was getting to see Pete Fountain play when he still had a club of his own on Bourbon Street (I think that's the street it was on) Now that I'm an artist and work in pastels, I wish I could go back and track down where Edgar Degas lived for awhile; he's an awesome pastel artist too & would be cool to see those same places.
