I always wondered about that song - I knew the music was to The Train Kept A Rollin'! As you say, some groovy dancing - and some very strange clothes including a red coat similar to one, or possibly the actual one, owned by Page! Out of curiosity, why that line up of the band? They weren't exactly together for long - Beck left during the US tour I think - and the one album produced with the Page only line up isn't exactly a classic! In fact, the best line up has to be that of Beck with Dreja on rhythm and Samwell-Smith on bass!

A good question. I am first and foremost a Led Zeppelin and Jimmy Page fan and not really a Yardbirds fan, although obviously the two become intertwined. I also have a passing interest in the career of Jeff Beck.

I know that Page 'borrowed' some of the latter Yardbirds material (inc I'm Confused, White Summer and Train Kept A Rollin') for the early Zep days, so it's always been of interest to me. He also often went back to some of the Yardbirds tracks (For Your Love, Over Under Sideways Down, I Wish You Would) in some Zeppelin shows and often quoted entire instrumental passages in live versions of Zeppelin tracks.

After reading a recent interview with the two when they mentioned briefly playing together in this lineup, my interest peaked again and so I got to looking for some aural evidence of the tour, without any luck so far. Unbelievably and unfortunately, it would appear that there are no tapes around from this period of Jimmy Page's live history.

As I have collected hundreds of live Zeppelin & Page shows (of varying quality!) over the years, it would be great to be able to hear some evidence of where it (Zeppelin) all started for Page.

Thanks for your continued interest btw.

Just another thought - have you checked on Youtube? They've got lots and lots of early 60s bands - I was amazed to find out how many of the early Kinks TV and show appearances have appeared on there.

The Zeppelin idea goes back to the recording of Beck's Bolero featuring one hell of a supergroup - Beck, Page, Jones, Nicky Hopkins and Keith Moon! Originally Page wanted to form a group along these lines, but with Entwistle from The Who on bass, but he ended up joining The Yardbirds instead! After the last two original Yardbirds left Page joined up with John Paul Jones, his old pal from sessions, and John Bonham, but wanted Terry Reid on vocals. Reid was unavailable, so Bonham suggested Plant and they were briefly The New Yardbirds before the name was changed - the rest as they say is history. In my opinion its a shame that Reid wasn't able to join up as he was an absolutely brilliant vocalist!
