To all you fellow metallers/goths/punks out there.If you want a couple of great venues in Edinburgh,there are 2 I can mention.1 :- "Metal Central" at the Fiscal pub off the Royal Mile/Hunter Square,it's free to get in,held every Saturday night from 9PM - 1AM ( Subject to change in certain circumstances )
And 2 :- "Thee Jailhouse" which was held fortnightly at Teviot building within the University of Edinburgh grounds Bristo Square. £4 entry and decent prices for drinks.To find out when "Thee Jailhouse" is next on,should you be attending "Metal Central" at the Fiscal,someone should be able to let you know."Thee Jailhouse" starts 11PM to 3AM Saturday night.
Both clubs play great tunes that we all know!
Another place we metallers can be found is Opium ( formerly Legends ) along the Cowgate.( When Thee Jailhouse isn't on! ) Some go elsewhere!

Your the first to post in this thread in almost 3 years...lol..you must have been really trawling through the archives....

I however am thankfull for this info and will look forward to visiting these places, probably at the begining of june, when I am off from work.... thanks for the info..

So.. can you say if its older music they play in these clubs..? I do miss the old metal alot.. lol.. you just don't get to hear it often enough unless ya pop in a CD..

Thanks for your welcome and interest in the Metal topic!
Yes Metal Central and Thee Jailhouse both play all the oldies,however Metal Central does sometimes play new stuff and some obscure stuff too.
Whilst this coming Saturday 22/05/04,I'll be standing in as DJ for the usual DJ,as he's off to the US to see Rush in concert! Well,after all,I am the official second DJ there at Metal Central!
Anyway,if anyone can make it along, it'll be another great night!
I'm sure Talon and Mistress,you'd enjoy it! Hope you will pop in sometime in the not too distant future,and Talon,should you pop in, in June,say hello!

I dont live in Scotland, I live in the States. But I like Metal too. Not so much into Metallica. I love the new hardcore/metal thing. Examples, As I Lay Dying, Poison the Well, Norma Jean, All That Remains and numerous more.
