"Clohinne Winds" by Briege Murphy
The shadows fell across the room as I lay down to rest/A storm was raging deep inside my head/I fell into a restless sleep/Of crazy changing dreams/But woke to find you standing by my bed (chorus) Clohinne winds were blowing when you called me/First you spoke my name/Your voice was still the same/You beckoned me and I arose/To follow where you led/Out among the wild Clohinne hills The mountain mist had lent an eerie whiteness to the hill/The silver spider threadings caught my face/You darted through the fracken/Trailing stardust in your wake/I knew you'd stop beside our sacred place (Chorus) You stopped upon the fairy hill beneath the hawthorn tree/I thought I heard a lonely banshee wail/You held your hand towards me/And I reached to touch your face/But woke to find that you were just a dream (Chorus) The years have passed/And I am growing weary of this earth/The magic of the dream alludes me still/I've lain beneath the fairy tree/I've shouted to the moon/I am the haunted woman of the hill (Chorus) [I still call out your name of my son to the moon.] |

Hi Shelli,
I hear you. Wouldn't it be nice if there was a site that played Celtic music. Sometimes I am dismayed to find that the CD I bought labeled Celtic music was not celtic at all. Hopefully, there will be a site soon. I love Celtic music too. I have a pretty good collection already. If I can help you pick out some let me know. The lyrics you just read is an unbelievable song. It sends me into another realm of universe. It is so spirit giving. I see that you are new new memember. Let me welcome you to Scotland.com. There are some great people here to chat with. Two persons that I have found to be very friendly and fun to chat with are Willy and Becca. I hope you will stay and become a part of the fun. I look foward to chatting with you again. Take care Shelli [This message has been edited by Celto (edited 14 December 1999).] |

Hi Celto. Enjoyed the words. Thank you for the compliment.
I go to www.amazon.com to their music department. Although my speakers aren't the best, I at least can hear some of the music, before buying. But, once you buy it, you're stuck.I received this catalog recently and thought of you. They have a collection of books I think you would be interested in reading, on your journey. The catalog is called, Explorations. They don't have a website, but their phone number is 1-800-720-2114. ![]() ------------------ Gaol, Dilseachd, Cairdeas |

Thanks Becca for the information. I will certainly check it out.
Here is another great Scottish song. Get ready for the goose bumps! Oran, Oran, Oran, Oran Oran, Oran, Oran... He came to Iona With his brother, Columba to build a church In the name of Christ. To sanctify the land Oran, he had a plan To give his life, in sacrifice. Oran, Oran, Oran, tell me what you see Oran, Oran, Oran, Speak to me. So they buried him alive And underneath the soil he died There he lay, for 20 days, so tell When they opened up the tomb Oran's head in mournful tune Spoke aloud of Heaven and of Hell Oran, Oran, Oran, Tell me what you see Oran, Oran, Oran, speak to me. "Heaven is not what it is said to be Hell is not what it is said to be The saved are not forever happy The damned are not forever lost" (Repeat 3x) Oran, Oran, Oran, Tell me what you see Oran, Oran, Oran, speak to me. [The graveyard became Scotland's royal cemetery with 60 kings, Scottish, Irish and Norse buried there, including MacBeth] |

THE LADY OF THE LOCH by Steve McDonald
The legend lives on and is told By the flok around Loch Ness She's been seen by many for o'er A thousand years, no less An ancient creature who dwells In the cold and murky deep They named her Nessie And they pray that she will keep, out there. It is a mystery how She's made it through the years Though she's never hurt anyone She feeds upon our fears She's watched us come and go And she's wise to all who plot Don't try to find her, She'll slip away The lady of the Loch. She will rise from the deep She will pass by the shore And then quietly drift Into the mist, so hazy And the people will come With their boats and their guns Lady of the Loch. She will rise from the deep She will pass by the shore And then quietly drift Into the mist, so hazy And you may see her like Neath the watery moonlight But you'll never find our Lady of the Loch [This message has been edited by Celto (edited 15 December 1999).] |

This is one of my favorites by one of my favorite Celtic groups:
"Ready For The Storm" Deanta The waves crash in and the tide pulls out It's an angry sea but there is no doubt That the lighthouse will keep shinin'out To warn the lonely sailor And the lightnin' strikes And the wind cuts cold Through sailor's bones to the sailor's soul Till there's nothing left that he can hold Except the roarin'ocean Chorus: But I am ready for the storm Yes all ready But I am ready for the storm I'm ready for the storm Oh give me mercy for my dreams 'Cause every confrontation seems to tell me What it really means To be this lonely sailor But when the sky begins to clear And the sun it melts away my fear I'll cry a silent weary tear At those that need to love me Chorus Distance it is no real friend And time will take it's time And you will find that in the end It brings you near a lonely sailor And when you take me by your side And I should have realized I had no reason to be frightened Chorus What are some of your favorites? |
