Sorry, I don't know the name of the person who recorded it. Someone else might know, it was during WWII. The song is, "I'll Be Home for Christmas." {Makes me cry everytime}

Second song, sung by Nat King Cole, "Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire."

Oh you're right Becca! Such a good call!
I can't remember the artist either but to see soldiers staioned overseas & hear that song......(*sigh*) so bittersweet!

(I just figured out not too long ago that the phrase "You take the high road & I'll take the Low road" from the "Bonnie Shores of Loch Lomand" referred to the Soldier going home first because he was dying (*sob*) OK so I'm SLOW to have just figured this out!)

Hey, do you remember Big Crosby's "Christmas in Killarney?"

Well, I know a "Bing" Crosby not a "Big" Crosby. <snicker> I think I've watched all of his movies, plus I'm a sucker for Bob Hope. The sillier the better. Just yesterday, I borrowed "White Christmas" from my sister. No commercials. Do you remember "Holiday Inn?" That was the first movie he sang "White Christmas" and it was in black & white. That should be a trivia question, don't you think?

OOPS! I must have been dragging this morning as there were a few typo's in that post...
Yes, that would be great trivia.
Bing has an "ancient" recording about
"Where The Turf Meets The Surf at Del Mar"
(A horse track about 15 miles south of us).
The Hollywood crowd used to take the coastal train down to San Diego County to bet the thoroughbreds back in the days of Jimmy Durante (The track is on Jimmy Durante Blvd), Bing Crosby & Gregory Peck (a La Jolla native).

Actually found a French Version of White Christmas ,"Noel Blanc", that I'll HAVE to play for the New Years Eve party for fun. (also has a Cajun version of Auld Lang Syne of all things that is just too fun!)
