mmm...Kings of Leon! Even though I normally listen to country they are very good, and interestingly enough became very popular in the UK before they were popular in America(even though they are Americans) Maybe you all have better taste in music then us!
Also Mercy Me...they are amazing!

Joan Osborne

Joan Osborne - Breakfast In Bed CD.

First heard of her while watching the excellent Standing in the shadows of motown documentary - Standing in the Shadows of Motown -- The Funk Brothers - , where she sings an excellent rendition of 'what becomes of the brokenhearted'.

That takes me back to church-hall discos in 1967 in Musselburgh as a 14 year-old - Jimmy Ruffin singing that song was one of the smooching songs ! After fast songs, usually Tamla soul eg The Four Tops, the DJ would maybe line Jimmy's song up with "Dedicated To The One I Love", playing the Mamas and Papas first, so girls and boys would match up for slow dance no 1 (the setting the scene dance), followed by goosebump-making Jimmy Ruffin "What Becomes Of The Broken-Hearted" for dance no 2, when the boys would make their move and get the girl (or not) ! Happy days !!! Mind you, even when I got a girl, I didn't have the money to spend on her !

Driving home down the A9 listening to "Leaving Lerwick Harbour" by Willie Hunter & Violet Tulloch, a kind soul gave me a loan of it. Willie managed to finish this album just before his death, he was a gentleman and a star on the fiddle, these young Shetland players owe him much. He would have been very proud of them. Wullie,
