Hi

Has anyone out there got a copy of "Your Cheatin Heart" by John Byrne. I saw it on telly around the late 70s or early 80s (I think) and have never seen it repeated. It is not - nor likely to be - released on video or DVD and I would dearly like to see it again.

I am delighted that someone on the Forum had a copy of "Tutti Frutti" and I am just waiting for it to arrive in the post.

Does anyone know whether John Byrne wrote anything else for TV or has had anything produced on DVD. I tried to find out a bit more about him and his work on the web - but there isn't much there - or it could be I haven't looked in the right places.

I'd be glad of any information.

I have been waiting in vain for "Your Cheatin' Heart" to re-surface ever since it was first shown. Amazing that it hasn't been repeated given that a) it was brilliant and b) several members of the cast are now major names on tv.
The only other reference I have found to the series so far has been on http://www.imbd.com which has useful info regarding everyone associated with the show. If you ever get hold of an episode please let me know.

Didn't he also write "The Slab Boys"? He is also a fairly well-known artist.

Sorry I cannot help you with a copy of "Your Cheatin' Heart" - I might be the only person left in the world who doesn't use a video machine!

I bet *somebody* has one somewhere though.

Good luck!

Your Cheating Heart
Joni James

[Written by Hank Williams]

Your cheating heart will make you weep
You'll cry and cry and try to sleep
But sleep won't come the whole night through
Your cheating heart will tell on you

When tears come down like falling rain
You'll toss around and call my name
You'll walk the floor the way I do
Your cheating heart will tell on you

When tears come down like falling rain
You'll toss around and call my name
You'll walk the floor the way I do
Your cheating heart will tell on you

"Tutti Frutti" with R. Coltrane & Emma Thompson (BBC, 1987), a 6-part one-hr-per-episode series, was also great.

I would be interested in any or all of his TV work, if anyone has them.

For a fairly academic look at YCH and John Byrne in general, see http://arts.qmuc.ac.uk/ijost/Volume3_no1/2_craig_c.htm

While I'm here, anybody got access to Ken Loach's "Days of Hope" on VHS?

greetings from Australia...

John Byrne films

I know that one of the series
"Tutti Frutti" or "Your Cheatin Heart" (don't remember which one) will probably never appear on video, due to the producer being short-sighted and not clearing the music (of which there is a lot) for more than one TV showing.
So it would cost too much to clear it again for a video release to make it viable.

"The Slab Boys" (shot for cinema, but only getting a very small, local release) has screened on the Film Four channel here in the UK a few times, but I don't know anyone who taped it
