right we can't say coldplay are Scottish, and I must add that Lloyd Cole is English so that is tenuous also. However as Annie Lennox was the key element in the eurythmics we have to say they were essentially Scottish for the purposes of this discussion anyway.
Leccia, some of your bands were a wee bit more obscure and I don't know whether the original post starter would recognise them, but hey they are Scottish.

Lloyd Cole is English, BUT.. it wasnt his band. It was Lawrence Donegan's band, and he's Scottish as are Blair Cowan, Neil Clark & Steven Irvine. So the band are almost completely Scottish, bar one member. Lloyd Cole was just hired as a singer to this already existing band.
I think they qualify as a Scottish band! ![]() |

I understand that musically Dave Stewart was the key factor but from the point of view of idnetifying with the band Annie was the key factor, undoubtedly. So get off your musically puristic high horse and calm down.

Musically puristic high horse?
I think I like that. However, I wasn't trying to appear puristic, elitist, sanctimonious, or any other such word I readily use without knowing what it actually means. I just think it's a bit harsh on poor old Dave Stweart to just right him off. I agree, everyone recognises the face and the voice of a band before anything else, but that shouldn't belittle the other band members contributions. That was all. I'm calm. |
