Does anybody know any good scottish music artist or band? Have already looked around a bit in Cd stores but haven't really found anything I was hoping for. Isn't there anything besides pipes?

To our friend who wants to know about Scottish music. One
good example is Jim Kentley. He has a pub in Kircudbrightshire ,but has been living for a while in South America where he teaches English. Another example is Kenneth McKellar, who has published some records. You should hear The Rowan Tree sung by him.It is one of the classics songs of all times. martinthedrummer2002

of course they do: http://www.runrig.co.uk, and i have found them also on http://www.musicline.de where you can listen to samples before spending lots of money ... *g*
even if my gaelic is not at all sufficient (to be honest, i just know "alba" and not very much more), i like the music because it simply fits to any occasion. if you´re sad, you have classics like the "dancing floor", and if it´s your day you can listen to the louder things like e.g. "alba" ... i just love it !!! |

The Wherries site - http://www.wherries.com - has Scottish stuff on CD and video. There are some mp3 samples of various tracks to try. There is a good 'Burns' CD as well. All the best, Dave. The Wherries. |

Thanks ever so much for the tip. The Burns Cd I think is very tempting. I'll see about purchasing it. Are there only Burns' songs on it?
