Any Garbage fans?

Hey. I know this was a previous discussion, but I'm a new member and I'm just trying to make conversation. I was just wondering if anyone had similar interests. Garbage is my all-time favorite band. So I was just wondering. If there are any fans...I was wondering if anyone has heard anything about any new songs or a new c.d. maybe?

I am also a huge Garbage fan as well as of Shirley Manson. Even back to when she was with Angelfish and Goodbye Mr. McKenzie.

I've seen them in concert three times already on their first two albums and will see them on the 23rd in L.A. where they are playing with "No Doubt".

I'm not sure when you last checked out Garbage's releases but they put out their last album "Beautiful Garbage" earlier this year. If you have this CD, I wouldn't expect to see another album from them for at least another year or so.

Well Its good to know that there are other Garbge fans in here. I did read through the boards and found where Shirley had posted. I'm hoping I will have the chance to talk to her, but I'm sure she is busy. She is on tour with No Doubt and the Distillers right now. I wanted to go see them again, but once again they passed over my insignificant little state. She is the most amazing person...did you hear about when she performed with her arm in a sling? What dedication!
Anyway, I am also a fan dating all the way back. I actually have an AngelFish cd, but I can't find anything on Goodbye Mr. McKenzie!! Thanks for the info, I went and bought Beautiful Garbage the day it came out. I love Cherry Lips, its an absolutely hilarious song. I would have to say that Drive You Home is number one from that cd for me. Its just beautiful. Did you buy the cd? If so, what did you think? Its very different from their old stuff, but still a masterpiece.

I think that would be so cool to see Shirley back on the boards here. It would be great to talk to her. I'll have to go back and check out her posts. Did she come on under her own name?

My girlfriend, her daughter, my brother and I are going to see them play in just a couple of weeks and we can't wait. No Doubt is headlining, but I'm hoping that since Shirley and Gwen Stefani are best friends, they share equal time on stage and maybe perform with each other too. I never heard about her performing in a sling. Sounds like an interesting story.

I bought the "Beautiful Garbage" CD and really loved it. I think "Drive You Home" is my favorite. It is a very different album for them. My girlfriend taped them on VH-1's "Behind the Music". It was a really enlightening interview, especially to see how difficult it was for the members of Garbage to get in sync with each other. A couple of times, especially during "Version 2.0" they almost gave up on the whole thing.

She said in the interview that from McKenzie to Angelfish to Garbage's first two CDs that most of the material came from unvented anger. It really kicked butt on the CD's though. Then she went to therapy for about a year, rid herself of some of the emotional baggage and as a result "Beautiful Garbage" is more insightful and of a positive vibe. At least more than the other two.

I saw tour pictures of her in Europe. She switched to short-cropped blonde hair a.k.a Bridgette Nielson (the actress). I much prefer her with the red-hair and the ponytail. This is how I've always seen her in concert. I'm sure the look is a marketing thing. I'm guessing that Europeans like the blonde look (not sure but no offense intended). I just hope she has switched back for her U.S. tour.

If you don't have the VHS or DVD of the James Bond movie, "The World is Not Enough", I highly recommend adding it to your collection. Garbage performs the theme song and the tape also has their music video for the song. Probably the best music video, I have seen from them.

While I really love all of their music, one of my favorite songs is from the first Garbage album called "Milk". A very ethereal, soul-stirring song.

I'm glad someone is going to be able to tell me about the tour. I wanted to go so bad. I can't believe they've skipped GA again. I've only been able to go see them once. It sucks. I loved them in concert, they put on an awesome show. I love them sooooo sooo much. They are just so amazing.
Anyway, I absolutely love the video to The World is Not Enough. I downloaded EVERY video of their's that I could find on Kazaa. I also love the song Milk from their first album as well, but I must say that I'm Only Happy When It Rains is my favorite. It, as you well know, is also from that c.d. You can just hear the pain and anger coming out of Shirley in that song, therefor it helps me release anger and sadness as well when I hear the song.
As for the whole hair thing, I love the blonde hair too. They both flatter her if you ask me. The red hair is her trademark, but its totally cool to change as well. I don't really have a preference on the length either. I like the butch, tough-girl look. The wife-beater just sets it off as well.
So anyway, has anyone read any of the interviews on garbage.net? My goodness, she thinks she is ugly!!! That just made me want to slap her in the face and tell her I would kill to be as beautiful as she is!!! My goodness! She seems so terribly unhappy at times. However, I suppose that makes it easier for me to relate with her. If she were nothing but bottles of sunshine, I don't suppose I would like her music as much...no drama or release there.
