Wink Let's see

When I was a child we had a whole city block that I lived in that over the years became little Pakistan as we called it. So at an early age I guess foreign music has been a part of my life, I watch Asian Variety and love Iranian, Turkish, Pakistani, Spanish, Greek, Isreali (the old 1940's era), Romanian, you name it..Kurdish ...I have a friend whose friend did a music tape in his country just to do one and it is the most haunting music I have ever heard, his voice and the instruments I cannot even describe...so Kurdish is now #1, well that artist is, in my books right now...which would be Turkish hill tribe right lol! He is from Turkey....and when the Iranian Classical music came out their jazz is Spanish mixed with Iranian...which is truly beautiful...and I have some Berber music too...my family teases me alot as I rarely have pop on anymore...you are more likely to hear desert ululations and some kind of wild drumming and haunting strumming than the top 40...Any good Turkish singers I should know about?

sorry, but what do you mean by FOREIGN?

I mean... isn't part of it perspective?

In the u.S. there is a category of music (U.K. too, i think) commonly known as "world music"... is this what you mean? Or do you mean traditional musics like they study in ethnomusicology courses? Or do you just mean music from places elsewhere... like whatever is playing in Brazillian discoteques? I'm not trying to be difficult... it's just that these three i mention have very different audiences, so i was just trying to figure out your meaning.

I mean music from different countries as you say 'world music' and don't worry I didn't misunderatsnd with what you said after all if I read the question I wrote coming from someone else I would have no doubt asked the same sort of question.

Are you fllowing me around?LOL joking I find it very sweet and nice that you take time to read my posts and even reply to them .....thank you

As for Turkish music there are many artists that I like and can recommend but not sure if you would agree.

I have a wide taste in the style of music and singers I listen to and these singers for me have to have strong voices nothing that sounds as if they are strangling a cat...lol

If you really want to know some names tell me amd I will post them next time
