    Jean,
I don't know if you are still even on here, but I was searching for information about my great-great-grandparents and came across your post on this forum about the Cuthberts. My great-great grandfather's name was William (He went by Scotty) Cuthbert and was married to Elizabeth Maxwell Cuthbert. Their daughter, Ann Hortense Adolia Cuthbert, married my great-grandfather, Ralph Layfield Cochran, Sr.

I was just this weekend talking to my grandmother (who married Ralph Layfield Cochran, Jr.) and my grandfather's brother (the brother of Ralph Layfield Cochran, Jr.) about my family history and was fascinated to discover the Cuthberts were from Scotland. Apparently "Scotty" Cuthbert lived in Mobile, Alabama where my great grandmother was born. My grandmother and great-uncle were only aware of one other sister, Ella Cuthbert, known as "Aunt Sis" to them. They said there might have been other siblings but they never knew them. Seeing the dates of your grandmother's birth and death it seems she was 11 years older than my great-grandmother and died a few years after my great-uncle was born. It makes sense that they would not have known her if she was living in Glasgow.

If you have any information on the Cuthbert family or would like to know any more about the information I know, please contact me. I was really excited to find your post and to discover a second cousin, once removed that I didn't know existed!

    Thank you!
    Sarah Cochran Gerdt
