Looking for a romance book

Hello All,

I need help please. I am looking for a specific book on a Scottish/English romance. I have no title or author (don't let your children "clean things out").

I can give a synopsis of the basics I remember and I've been looking for over a year. IF anyone can help I would be most grateful.

Its an historical and the hero kidnaps the heroine from her evil "guy who wants to force her into a marriage she doesn't want) tower with the help of several clan members. Scenes going down the tower with lady wrapped in blanket, across moat/river, onto horseback. She's frightened, but tough. There is one scene that sticks out in my mind and I hope this is the one that helps on the search for this book. She is injured and feverish, they stop at a crofters hut with a healer in residence. The healer cleans the wound, and puts some kind of treatment on the wound. The lady makes not a sound and finally faints from the pain. One of the warriors tries the treatment on a small injury he has and tells the other clansmen once outside that he came near to screaming with the pain of the treatment and his respect for the lady rose by some large degree.

The hero returns to his clan home, has a younger brother that goes missing while out playing with another boy who is killed. The lady takes over the running of his keep and things improve under her hand and guidance for the comfort of all.

If anyone can help, I would appreciate it.

california, I have a book with a story line very much like that one but she isnt taken wrapped in blanket. but she does require help for a bad injury to her arm inflicted by a scared boy she was trying to save. It is call Ransom by Julie Garwood. I am a huge reader of the Scottish romance novels I will search my books beacause the whole wrapped in a blanket seems erally familiar also hope it helps.

I think you are referring to a Melissa Mayhue book...Not sure which one. but I know I have read that one - that scene is memorable. But wait...could be a Hannah Howell also.
