'Whose Turn For The Stairs' by Robert Douglas

I've just read the first novel from this popular author (you may have read 'Night Song of the Last Tram', his Glasgow autobiography).

This book tells the stories of the 12 families living up a close in Maryhill in 1949 and is hilarious (great Glasgow patter), dramatic and quite moving.

A great read.

Robert Douglas also wrote a further two autobiographical books: Somewhere to Lay My Head and At Her Majesty's Pleasure... both are worth reading (as is Nightsong)! From what I can tell, the novel (Whose Turn) is too and hopefully I'll get a chance to find out for myself soon!
