Books and Movies on Scottish culture

Hello. Some of you know I'm writing a comic book. What movies about Scottish culture and Subculture do you recommend watching?

What other movies should I look at that are similar to Trainspotting?
What books and what writers/poets should I look at, besides Rob Roy and Robert Burns?

Thank you.

What other films should I watch on Scottish culture/subculture?

What books do you suggest?

Isn't Bill O'Connelly, the "Big Yin", a famous comedian?

You might mean the comedian/actor named Billy Connolly.

What films would you suggest on:

Scottish youths, kids, college students and street gangs?

Films on Scottish history besides Braveheart and Rob Roy?

Someone told me I should look at "Oor Willie" and the "Broons", and that I should watch Taggart.

"Restless Natives" is great for a look at teens in the 80's (although not quite 'Trainspotting'), and also has some absolutely gorgeous scenery of both Edinburgh and the Highlands.
