Just say Craigmillar, Pilton and Wester Hailes to most Edimbra fowk.... and watch them shudder.
I've been to Wester Hailes, it's not that bad in itself aesthetically, as some horrible areas in English cities, but the people are poor

When were you last in Wester Hailes? It is really badly run-down nowadays. It was hailed as the last word in architectural planning in its day.... SHUDDER

Books on Scottish Movies

I bought a copy of Irwin Welsh's 1996 edition of Trainspotting, based on the movie, because if features a Scottish slang glossary.

HAve they made book adaptations of

Restless Natives
Local Hero
Gregory's Girl
and Brigadoon

and do they feature Scottish slang glossaries?

Scottish stereotypes

Yes, I agree. It is a culturalistic steoreotype to create a Scottish character with red hair and a kilt.

The 1996 book by Irwin Welsh is the original book the movie is based on? I thought I was buying a movie-to book adaptation.

The point is, I book the book for its slang glossary.
