I've looked back over the various pages and it would appear that not everyone says Sean Connery.

My wife is sexy. That does not qualify her as a candidate for "Favourite Scottish actor".

I can't believe no-one has mentioned Joe McFadden, soon to be seen in Heartbeat.

He was superb in The Crow Road.

Caught him the other night in Taggart, aged 12!

I like JMcF, too. As you said, he was great in The Crow Road.

Heartbeat? Is that still going......?! What a waste of his talents.

Maybe, but it might also raise his profile and lead to something special.

Did you know he auditioned for the LOTR movie? I'm sure it would have been for the role of a hobbit, so which one do you think he'd have been if he'd got through? My money would be on Pippin - he looks very Pippinish. At least, he did back then. Pippin's Glaswegian accent would have been a coincidence.

I was lucky enough to meet Joe back in February - very nice guy. Down to earth and no show to him.

Hmmmm, I have avoided all the LOTR films, so I cannot make a judgement about whether he'd have fitted the director's vision of a hobbit.... But you're right, he would make a good Pippin (I've read the books, just avoided films)

BTW, JMcF WAS mentioned on this thread a coupla times, very early on about 6 years ago, and I'm sure I mentioned him, too!

I did have a quick look, but it's 31 pages!

I loved the LOTR books, and enjoyed the films immensely in a different way. I thought PJ did a great job. A few things were wrong, but as a book fan first and foremost, I thought the films were fine.

Billy Boyd stole ROTK - imo. Which is why he would be on this list for me. Along with Sean Connery, if only for getting away for using the same accent whether he's playing a Russian or an English king.

Gerard Butler would be on my list too - but that's because I'm shallow. (Does he act too? )

Robbie Coltrane - Bill Paterson ... they're worth a mention.

And I know there's someone else who I should be remembering, but can't.

All those you mentioned have been posted before - I'm not too keen on the teenfest types but my list on here have included

Peter Capaldi
Denis Lawson
Ken Stott (my favourite)
Bill Paterson
Robbie Coltrane
Robert Carlyle
Brian Cox
