Bobby Carlyle cos of the range of characters he's played :

The laid back Polis Hamish MacBeth
The baddie in James Bond
Liverpudlian skinhead in Cracker
The bus driver in Carla's Song
etc, etc
I could go on as my sister is an expert, having chose him for Hamish.

Actresses, now that's a wee bit more difficult, but not impossible - have to think a bit for that.

Not directly in casting, she was head of drama at the Beeb (Scotland), so more in the production management side. She moved to Pathe Films after that and now has her own company.

Sean Connery absolutely tops my list. But I also agree that Robert Carlyle and Robbie Coltrane are super. Billy Connolly was great in "Mrs. Brown," the first and only time I've seen him.
I can't think of a single Scottish actress, and I'm not even familiar with the names mentioned above.

Talking Actresses ?????????

Well the message from those in the know as to good famous Scottish Actresses is .....Elaine C. Smith, Jenny Mcrindle, Mandy Matthews, Phyllis Logan, but not in any particular order.
My bet there would be Phyllis Logan as an actress, Elaine C Smith as a comedienne.

Any offers for alternatives, or comments???

Wink

Who was the Scottish actor who played Constintine Levin in Masterpiece Theater's version of 'Anna Karenina'? He was good.
