Dougray is a Scot?? I don't think I knew that - He was in that movie 'Everafter' with Drew Barrymore, wasn't he?

Well, of course a man doesn't have to be good looking to be a good actor, but, you know, it doesn't hurt!

I am fully capable of admiring brilliant performances (as all those men have given), and often do. It's just that the focus of this particular feature is hunkiness. I don't see the harm.

As for level of acting, I'd have to say Ewan McGregor is my favorite Scottish actor, just because I've seen him in the widest range of things, and he's so good at getting into his characters. I don't think Moulin Rouge would have been anywhere near as successful without his earnest, committed performance. He grounded the over-the-top nature of the film with his total commitment to making Christian a real, emotionally rounded character and I think it's criminal he wasn't recognized with an Oscar nomination for it (though, I believe he won a well deserved Empire Award for that performance).

I run another site that is devoted to film, and there we discuss the merits of performance, story, and filmmaking. But at the site where we're doing a Scotland feature, it's all about the beefcake.

According to a fan site, Dougray is from the Glenrothes area of Fife. He was in Ever After, as well as Mission Impossible II, Twin Town, Gregory's Two Girls, and Enigma. He will next be in Ripley's Game with John Malkovich and To Kill a King with Tim Roth and Rupert Everett.

Is Billy Boyd actually commonly considered a heartthrob?

(Sorry if I'm a little late.)
